The Church of Ayios Nikolaos tis Stegis (dated to the 11th century) is situated in acentral area of the Troodos mountain range approximately 2km southwest of thevillage of Kakopetria. In 1985 the Church was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, which includes nine other painted Byzantine churches of the Troodosmountain range.
